THE BIRD KING, CHAPTER 8 (MAY 2015)
this is an epilogue i added to the end as a little joke with myself about trauma. the things i went through were devastating for a long time, and affected my life and relationships in many ways. things are much better now – i’ve since had years of therapy, wonderful therapists, and new best friends. i’ve also met someone wonderful who now knows a healthier, happier version of me. i empathize with my past self and know why i did what i did. we are all just trying.
on a final note, i was surprised how much making this comic helped me. there’s something beautiful about synthesizing very difficult experiences into a fun and wacky story. beauty for ashes, you know?
