THE NEW YORK I IMAGINED (OCTOBER 2013)
this comic speaks more clearly about my new york experience than any other. i wrote it in a hotel room in paris while trying to escape and get some perspective. for me, NYC was like the most amazing party i’d ever been to – but parties are only good when they end at the right time.
i didn’t know how to move forward – the city gaslights you into thinking you’re at the top of your game, and you’re an incredible human just for existing there. going anywhere else feels like a giant step backward. this comic helped me to confront those ideas, punch ‘em in the face, and figure out what my deep self truly wanted.
one insult that didn’t make it in the comic, but that i still like, is “YOU... POLLUTED MANACLE”.
